The history of MUWAT cigars began during the final session of mixtures of consumer products at the Joya factory in Nicaragua, in late 2010, during a Cigar Safari tour.
After having conducted mixing sessions in the previous 3 years at the Drew Estate factory, we have been optimized to extend the concept to JDN. I worked with the JDN team using DE tobaccos, including a San Andreas Negro cape, an Ecuadorian Connecticut undercoat and a Brazilian Mata Fina tripe, combined with Nicaraguan tripe supplied by JDN.
The blend turned out to be rich and earthy, with a lively and soft undertone. Over the months, I felt that this mixture was very noble in the 6 × 60 format and I called this cigar “MUWAT”. We all had a good laugh when it came to the name, but when I returned to their factory to take the fifty sticks, the “MUWAT” brand was officially born.
